Calibratednot impressedwhy would I upgrade     Location always off

Ive had this app in its various updates for several years now and it still is leaving me shaking my head Its true that as some reviewers have said if youre in the wilderness and your phone runs out of battery you would do well to have an oldfashioned iron compass But this is something far more sophisticated AR combines bearings distance measurement mil scale fine calibration by position of sun moon Polarisor any of the 100 or so major stars that you can choose Can be set for magnetic north true north gyro compass based on your initialization just as in aircraft gyro compass integrates with GPS stores maps you use once while connected to data If this were a standalone device it would come closest to some of the highend TI scientific calculators in terms of usability versatility This dev has done some other interesting apps too but while they are extremely detailed this is the most accessible of his projects But be sure to print out the manual and as he suggests read it a bit at a time not trying to internalize it at one sitting                 Wellcrafted App

Not fully sure how to use it but I like it I just know that my other compasses differ by about 4 degrees from this one           Like it but cant get accuracy

Very technical and accurate lots of features that I have just begun to explore but what I have seen up to now it has great potential does eat my cell phone battery fast though                 Awesome App

This app is fantastic but the hint icons for the sun moon and North Star need to be bigger They are so small they are difficult to spot on the compass display Other than that this app fills a great need in the GPS world The gyrocompass works great and is a wonderful feature when accuracy is critical                 Great app Just needs

Amazing app With my job in the US Army this is definitely one of the most useful and convenient tools to use quick and efficiently I have tested the apps accuracy against maps lasers and other systems and it is very accurate for what it is No matter what units of measurement or area location methods you are used to this has it and can be converted it if needed                 13

Dont get lost with this app on a iPod Touch 5 If you do make sure you are constantly recalibrating it Only works in gyrocompass mode on iPod Touch 5 Gyrocompass mode requires that you know the cardinal directions in your location or that you have relatively clear skies in order to calibrate it If you know the cardinal directions then you dont need a compass If you dont have clear skies and dont know the cardinal directions in your location cant back track or youre in unfamiliar terrain then sit down and stay put because youre lost and this app aint going to help you Hahahaha PLEASE BE AWARE GYROCOMPASS MODE LOSES CALIBRATION WITHIN SECONDS OR A MINUTE OR TWO AFTER THE LAST CALIBRATION And does so under normal movement and turns by the userholder of the device     Worthless On iPod Touch 5

Ive found this app to be very versatile and reasonably accurate when calibrated For the money its exceptional I recommend it to anyone looking for a app highlighting these features As a surveyor Ive found it useful especially for its observations of Polaris and the sun              Good app

Im an infantryman and I used spyglass to call in artillery using the 10 digit grid provided Accurate within 3 meters I use it to plot and plan routes known points and target reference points It is a must for all Infantrymen                 Great for grunts

I do a lot of backcountry navigation for search and rescue in the NW There are three fundamental features missing in Spyglass to prevent it from being useful for SAR It does not allow the user to manually enter waypoints Many times we will receive multiple waypoints that define a search area These waypoints are not decernable from viewing satellite imagery and must be entered manually before entering the field Secondly most SAR work is done using UTMs as the primary coordinate system and Spyglass uses variations of DMS as the primary Spyglass must allow the user to work in UTMs as the primary coordinate system Lastly Spyglass must allow the user to create and store tracks without cellular coverage     SAR user

Looks good works good takes s bit to learn all the functions Its a keeper           Good App

None of the buttons work on the right side ie The tracker button is supposed to open menu options according to the manual Tapping pushing holding down on the buttons do nothing Cant change to new destination or any other option listed in the manual If these were working 5 stars Right now I am stuck with one destination and I dont even want to go there        Broken

This is an amazing app to have on a boat It works as a ships compass a bearing compass and sextant without the math as well as a GPS It makes a great introduction to celestial navigation and it is accurate enough to be a seriously useful tool I plan to have a lot of fun with this                 An Amazing App for Boating

Only minor critique would be that with the map on it gets really twitchy when pointing due north iPhone 5S No idea why                 Impressive app

Not to bad overall Location is slightly off but so is my Garmin Nothings perfect but itll get you close Great for photo documentation in my opinion The only reason Im Giving a 4 instead of 5 is I would like to see more customizable features I dont use yards or feet when ranging a target but I dont use kmph for speed either In anycase its a fun app to play around with also adding your paranoid friends house to the destinations tracking take the photo and send it to them is a good way to mess with their heads a little              Not to Bad

This is one of the most powerful apps in the App Store I primarily use this tool as a US Army Pathfinder to measure obstacles around helicopter landing sites There are many useful tools in this app and they are very accurate Also technical support is fast and friendly I had my questions answered within minutes of my initial email                 Amazing

Works great gorgeous well designed But lets be honestyoure never going to use this thing other than for a cool novelty No one is wandering into the wilderness with nothing but an iPhone app to navigate them outand really no one is wandering into the wilderness period Youre going to pull this thing out and show your hunting buddies how cool it is or use it to waypoint your way from the bar to the urinal and back Thats why its so cheapI bought it just because it looks cool and makes me feel like I can go spelunking If you claim this is an essential tool to navigate your offroad adventure or next wild camp outing then you need to get a different hobby           Its a Toy A very cool Toy

Nice app but poor instructions and a few features with little utility Calibration is needed and accuracy is variable Been trying to use for over a year and it rarely calibrates The free compass that came with my iPhone is much better Dont buy this app     Needs to Improve
